Death's Denial

by

E C Wesch

I drank love's nectar, warm and sweet,
placed passion's treasure, at your feet.
Uncontrolled, my heart did beat,
in tune with passion's, searing heat.

Softly, musical instruments play,
keeping bottled memories away.
Fearful of another day
as pain forgotten, came to stay.

Venomous, is the cobra's bite,
and evil threads its web so tight
I lay alone in bed each night
with thundering heart in perilous flight.

The loss I felt, strong and swift,
pierced between my breast did shift
the purity of my love did lift,
'neath clouds of sorrow sown adrift.
