Short poem.
She said, “Love is more important than passing.
I’d rather have love than to pass
this class.”
He replied, “Well, love is important, I agree.
But you’ve also got to get a degree,
you see?
Love isn’t the only necessary thing to be a good wife.
Without smarts, it’ll be mostly strife
in life.
Love won’t pay for a shelter to put over your head.
It won’t be able to get your kids fed
I dread.
And what happens if he ever decides to leave?
You’ll see that you should’ve achieved,
not conceived.
I don’t say this to put you down or sound negative.
Only the best life is one that’s productive,
not tentative.”
