A small bird
Only a few days old...perfectly formed and so cute
Over the past few days I could hear Chirpy
on the eaves of my house... New birth and hope - I smiled
as mother bird brought food for her young.

I placed Chirpy on a tissue blowing warm breath and
gently massaging the baby birds heart...it's vulnerability made me sad
Never had a chance!
Perfectly formed spine - small beak - little wings showing through
pink transparent skin and small claws...

My heart felt confused... I smarted as I put fresh soil on chirpy
patted it down to keep predators away
He was innocent... I miss his baby song
I hear mother bird cry for her young
