Instead?

Sometime ago I dreamt once,

                            maybe twice,

envisioning some kind of life,

        Loving, Laughing, Being..

            Daydreams now  appear

                taunting me, asking,

    Well? Is it here or even near?

WHAM, REALITY!  Engulfs me

as I bend over to make another

                                    ..bed....

  I just PINCH me,  with Dread,

    Because maybe a nightmare

        Is where

                    It ends, instead....
