missing yesterday
Why Oh Why Oh Why

They went on their final journey that day with heaviness in their hearts

Their odds of survival were known only by the spirits maps and charts

Remembering things were different and freedom once was theirs

Now their homes are getting smaller and food is getting scarce

They were a simple people for generations and truly loved the land

They never wasted anything that came into their resourceful hands

The air water and land  was cherished by them every day

Animals were not play things but major parts as they pray

Trying hard to change their ways and silencing their stories

Almost completely erased them today from our memories

There are some that remember these forgotten ones

The wood on the trees was wet as they were forced to walk away

Every leaf carried dewy tears knowing this was the final day

Ask the eagle who hears the echoes and searches the mountains high

Ask the owl who only speaks the truth asking so sadly why oh why oh why

When we see the descendants as they longingly stare into the distance

Searching the horizon for all of those that were lost and left behind

Take the time to finally look deeply for the constant tears that fill their eyes
