My take on a philosophy of life in rhyming couplets
KINDNESS, COMPASSION, FAITH AND LOVE

I do not know, I cannot say
That I should pass each night and day

In contemplation, prayer and work
Smell the flowers but do not shirk

The things we need to make us whole
To nourish both our heart and soul

But as I take in God’s sweet air
It comes to me with toil and care

I would not change one day, one hour
Not even if I had the power

For pain and toil are part of life
Denial cuts us like a knife

And happiness?  Ah no, my friend
Happiness is not an end

But is a part, a portion of
Kindness, compassion, faith and love

These as our armour, sure and strong
Protect us through our whole life long

So who can say and who can know,
Which way tomorrow’s wind will blow?

And every day the path winds on
As so it will ‘til I am gone

I leave behind a final thought
That hatred is by demons taught

But love shines forth, in rainbows’ blaze
Clearly revealed are God’s true ways
