Live for today, not the yesterdays.
A Familiar Goodbye (Revised)

Cold whispers gently caress the air
As time warps me into yesterdays
Trapped in consistency
I need to break free
But do I dare?

Treading footsteps on familiar streets
Singing the words to the same old songs
Analyzing all my wrongs
Captured in unbroken routines
Just when I thought you had me beat...

Malicious memories start to detach
Eventually plummeting to the ground
Hundreds of tiny pieces from my tormented past
Shattered
Now I’m leaving it all behind
At last
Walking away without a scratch

This time

The sun pushes through the dismal sky
As today speaks in volumes
I’m finally ready to listen
To move on
To sing a new song
It’s time to say goodbye
