they once were clowns.
The announcer’s voice boomed out
Starting up this contest
The gate opened with a shout
Only one would be best.

Leaping back I let them by
But they turn just so quick
The big one, he seemed to fly
This “muley” was some pick.

That big one began to spin
The cowboy holds on tight
To be thrown would be a sin
But somethin’ wasn’t right.

The rider’d gone into “the well’
His riding hand “hung up”
Now this cowboy was in “hell”
My time to “cowboy up”

Time the spin and make my leap
I grab the rope’s tag end
It comes free in one clean sweep
Again the rider’s friend

“Why fight those bulls?” friends all cry
“Why risk your life and limbs?”
“It ain’t the pay”, I reply
“I answer cowboy’s hymns.”
