Emergence from a deep depression. 6 6 8 7 syllable count.
Moving slowly forward,
progressing to the light.
For now, there is no looking back;
the future's consumed my sight.

Moving slowly forward,
worried of turning back.
Succumb once more to sadness' spell?
I'll prep for its grim attack.

Moving slowly forward,
empowered by each stride.
With sadness lurking close behind,
I'll take every step with pride.

Moving slowly forward,
calm shadows in the light,
calling me ever closer, to
"Come back now, it's all right."

Moving slowly forward,
my loved ones standing near;
urging me ever closer; me
grasping they've always been here.

Moving slowly forward,
bleakness looming close behind.
Nevertheless, in this present,
I'm in control of my mind.
