Loss of the Shuttle Challenger.
At Kennedy with news crews nigh
all set was Challenger to fly
with rockets burning very bright
that always form an awesome sight
into the upper realm of sky.

Yet overnight ere morning try
cold temperatures began to ply
as water froze to opaque white
at Kennedy.

And so the O-rings had to vie
with rocket thrust and pressures high,
that lessened in elastic might
and thus explosion was the plight
which caused the people there to cry
at Kennedy.

In 1986 Challenger exploded shortly after liftoff at the Kennedy Space Center
due to O-ring failure in one of the rocket boosters due to cold weather.
