A rhyming couplet about harvest time.
Wheat heads, slowly change from a dark green to light,
Waving to the sunny sky golden and bright.

Some rain is fine, but could do without the hail.
Kernels fall back to the ground being so frail.

When the heads start bending then leaning over,
Reaping what's been sown since last mid-October.

It's soon time for combines and thrashers to bring.
Family and metal machines harvesting.

Gleaners begin to gather up the good grain.
Our bushel per acre this year was a gain!

Elevators take in the various yields.
Only straw stalks are scattered throughout the fields.

The farmers now are reimbursed for their toil.
One more year to weather and work up the soil.
