A Vampiric Musing.
You see me...
Or do you?
What you see before you
A mask...
hiding away the grotesque..
A shadow of myself..
held together only by what you..
the Beholder..my beloved..want to see.
A half-truth.
I am the Undead.
A demon.
A thing of Nightmares.
You cannot see this.
You refuse to.
Because you love me.

And I...
A prisoner captive by chains of my own making...
must cry bittersweet tears of crimson.
I know that I will never be free.
The torment within me...
This blood-lust...
will consume me until the End of Days.

I am that Beautiful Creature
That Deadly Thing
that you dance with in dreams...
but that I never allow you to see in daylight...
for the sun is my enemy...
Oh, how I would gladly give my soul...
(my soul?)
for just one hour in that golden warmth
to walk with you once more!

But now, my darling, my dear...
The horizon grows light, and I must go.
One more kiss, one last embrace....
I go back to my Dark place, and you...
You will awaken, and think me a dream.
