A rewrite of "Walking in a Winter Wonderland." Sing along!
Walking in a Siberian Wasteland

Prison guards shouting orders,
Barbed wire marks our borders.
Devoid of all cheer, so mournfully we're
Walking in a Siberian Wasteland.

Gone away is Mr. Yeltsin,
Here to stay is Mr. Putin.
Resigned to our fate, no room for debate,
Walking in a Siberian Wasteland.

In the meadow we can dig some trenches
And pretend that somehow we could flee.
But if you survive the cold, the fact is
You never will escape the KGB.

When it snows, we don't notice.
Grass or trees?  We forego this.
A blanket of ice will have to suffice
Walking in a Siberian Wasteland.

Years ago, I liked to place a yule log
On the stony hearth above the fire.
They don't let me do that in the gulag.
It makes my situation rather dire.

Later on, we'll expire
When the troops open fire.
We'll spend our last day the Soviet way,
Walking in a Siberian Wasteland.
