100 word short story for newbie contest.
Archer sat with his back propped up against the door gasping for air.  He knew he only had moments left before the horde pushed their way through.  Less than human, but significantly more dangerous.  The sounds they made were indiscernible, like something beyond the grave.  This is why he no longer slept. 

"Ten feet, just ten feet", he mumbled to himself.  He needed courage to make the break for the next room.  The horde began to press against the door.  The sound of wood creaking weakened Archer's resolve as he slipped to the floor. 

The door flew open.

Archer wept.
