A girl's departure
Leaving

Her hands are above a sheet of paper, hesitating:
Maybe not, she thinks.
Nobody will miss her while she's gone, in fact
Nobody notices she was ever here.
There's no point writing a note.
She packs all the food in her hand bag and
Looks back at the girl in bed,
So still.
A smile lightly prints on the girl's face.
What's she dreaming about? A better place maybe.
She walks across the room and reaches for the door -
But she pauses.
Then she looks back at the girl one last time,
"Goodbye," she whispers.

She waits for a bit,
And she walks out the door.

The night is almost gone with only the silhouette of
The moon still stubbornly remains.
Strays of light slip through the edge of thin clouds.
The brick walls of buildings all drown in the morning fog
And dead silence.
She wanders, not knowing where she'll arrive.
The light gets brighter and brighter, shines down on her,
So serene.
She closes her eyes to feel the warmth.
Maybe this is what she's looking for; this is it.
She picks up the pace and starts running -
But she pauses.
Then she looks back at the world one last time,
"Goodbye," she whispers.

She holds her handbag tighter,
And realizes she forgot to bring ham.
