A poem I wrote in the early days of my husband leaving me.
The years of lying next to you has come with lots of joy,
Our love and laughter, silly games and of course our little boy.
The years of lying next to you has also come with sorrow,
Our arguments, mistrust, but there has always been tomorrow.
But now the morning after will never come again,
And knowing I have lost you brings me boundless grief and pain.
Some days are good and I accept you're gone and I face my fears,
But other days... Like today I can not hold the tears.
I miss the feeling knowing that to me you're coming home,
Your weeks away at work and me here feeling alone.
So now you will not come to me and hold me close to you,
Our life is not 'together' and it's time to start anew.
So on my own two feet is how I now have to stand,
But I am not yet ready to let go of your hand.
My heart is broken and I can not breath or think or say,
Knowing that from my life you have gone away.
