Hearts break and break hearts.
    I'll never love the way you do.
I may have once; now I'm just scars
and scars don't love. They weaken hearts.

    Compassionate, tender, and true;
I used to dream that someone would
love me like you, like lovers should.

    I'll never give that back to you.
I can't make your life seem worthwhile
or melt completely when you smile.

    You'll never know the love I knew.
You'll never know how much I wished
you'd change me, make me more than this.

    You'll hurt, but you'll hurt lovers too.
Like me, you might grow used and cold,
and only know that hearts grow old.
