A poem about the joy my 15-month old grandson brings me
Afternoon Delight

I come home from work, weary and tired from the day.
Then one look at my grandson causes me to smile
as I watch him toddle and waddle and play.

We watch his favorite shows for a little while,
and he snuggles up next to me in my lap.
Then we sing along with the TV in our own style.

His eyes light up, and he waves his arms and starts to clap
at the colorufl characters dancing across the screen
until his mom comes in to put him down for a nap.

His playfulness is a delightful, wondrous scene.
It lifts my spirits and causes my heart to laugh.
And laugther's good medicine, if you know what I mean.

This is my first, feeble attampt at a Terza Rima, The Terza Rima is a three-line stanza form with an interlocking rhyme scheme of aba, bcb, cdc, ded, efe, and so on for as long as you care to take it. For me, it was a real challenge. I'm sure I'll be tweaking this one for some time, but at least I tried a new form. *Thumbsup* Yea, Me!
