Staying sensible despite political stress.
Election stress, I must confess,
is like a rope pilled taut.
I knew there’d be intensity--
but much more than I thought.

‘Tis robbery of energy,
a cracking of an egg.
A draining touch--I am in Dutch,
a dweller of The Hague.

As votes add up my nerves disrupt--
heart begins to plummet.
It’s like a page where I’m on stage,
or nuclear summit.

I started out shy, filled with doubt,
a diamond in the rough.
Yet now my fix is politics
although sometimes it's tough.
