Just a mood I had one night, and this is what came from it
She closes her eyes and listens
This time she will not hear his breathing
She closes her eyes once more
As a tear streaks down her face, to the floor

She closes her eyes, her heart shattering
Now not so sure what to do,
She closes her eyes, still longing
His callused hands against her flesh; smooth

She closes her eyes, she can still see them
The eyes that were windows to her own soul
She closes her eyes, now weeping
Why does love have to take such a toll?

She closes her eyes and listens
To an endearing word spoken no more
She closes her eyes to remember
His laugh, his voice, him as a whole

She closes her eyes and then opens them
She searches the empty room
She closes her eyes
Then she opens them, and faces the bitter truth
