Telling it like it is
NEVER GROW OLD

Once I was young and in the prime of life,
yet as I got older I was met with some strife.
I had looked in the mirror on one early morn
and found that my face looked old, forlorn!

The wrinkles stood out, too many to count.
I was losing my looks, and no small amount.
There was gray in my hair, a zit on my nose,
my skin had grown spots the color of a rose.

My steps were slower than they used to be,
I started taking my vitamins, A, C, B and D.
Much to my dismay, I soon started to forget
things I should have remembered, and yet -

Some things are best forgotten, I like to recall.
so I took down the mirror and stared at the wall.
I put on my jeans and a shirt with a cool verse,
I must keep my chins up, things could be worse.

There is much to be said about growing old,
the lessons once learned now must be told.
Old is a miracle, some get to write and achieve
the goodness in living, you just have to believe!

Life is for the living, no matter the real cost,
Once you give up, you are sure to be lost.
A word to the wise, if the bones ache with cold,
Just turn up the heat, for it is hell to get old!
