A poem on a time in my life that helped make me who I am. Also written as an apology.
I played my flute, you raised to my call.
We danced and writhed, began to fall.

My heart sang out on every tune.
Secretly hoping to see you swoon.

My feelings, the truth. But not left to bare.
Praying to keep the time that we share.

The truth lost on me. For damage I did cause.
At realizations point I did take pause.

Selfish, I had been. But to you, I did owe more.
Truly caring, does not for more implore.

To my hearts song you did reply.
A light so warm, I could not shy.

It gave me more than ever I could hope.
The truth it showed me, I could not cope.

The song I played, though true, now off key.
Though still you danced, my song betrayed me.

Rather than nurturing and pure.
Its poison I could not cure.

I put down my flute, and stepped from your light.
I hoped to find you, after my internal fight.
