A poem of survival and getting through the rough times.

UNANSWERED PRAYERS

Each night I pray to God above
To give me peace, to give me love,
and yet the answers do not come.
The pain goes on, I am undone.

I've tried so hard to understand,
to be content with things at hand.
Another time, in another place -
someday heartache He'll erase.

A gentle touch and a tear or two,
somehow I will make it through.
I gave up on my quest for peace
but some memories never cease.

My son, my son, I cry in vain.
In God's hands you will remain.
You try so hard for happiness,
and yet it seems a futile quest.

God answers all prayers in time,
I need to keep faith in the divine.
A troubled soul, no battles won
He struggles on, my only son.

Will he make it through tomorrow,
will God sustain me in my sorrow?
The choice is his and is up to him,
where he's going, where he's been.
.
Each night I pray to God above
To give me peace, to give me love,
and yet the answers do not come.
The pain goes on, I am undone.
