A twisted poem about the forms of fear I face each day of my troubled life.

Just there
Forms of fear
Each of them
Abundantly clear
Each one related
To themselves
As well as the real me
All of them powerful
All of them ruthless
They won’t surrender
They won’t ever falter
What they are doing
Is a form of control
That won’t ever let go
What they are doing
Is dismantling all of my will
And breaking down the boundaries
Between what should be remembered
And what should have been forgotten
Closer they are always getting
In the immediate distance they seem
Upon my chest their ideas sit
Deep inside my mind
They find further solid ground
They hang on for dear life
Even at the price of my own
They will never go
Because at this point
They are part of my soul
Leaches sucking the blood
That pumps through my veins
Causing my health to be in
A constant state of decay
Causing me to suffer
The greatest levels of pain
Unbearable all that they do
Has long since become
Many come from my past
From a childhood born of hell
My youth was raped away
All innocence forcefully taken
All that made me human
Stripped from me and replaced
With far too many
Forms of fear
All future is not clear
The past is always near
In between for now
I have somehow survived
There are of course
Different levels of survival
Existence can be as simple
As just being alive
Or it can be as complex as
Being in this place
When without question
Here is where one belongs
Least of all
Forms of fear
Some I can deal
Others I certainly cannot
Those on the outside scream
Rationale ideas of change
They wish for me to survive
What is not survivable
They want me to get better
But they offer me nothing
In the way of how it’s to be done
I’m always alone in a wilderness
Of far too many creatures
All of them flesh starved
Abominations of humans
Ones too close to me
Once too much of a part of me
Diseases feasting upon my childhood
People infected with needs
That only a child’s flesh could meet
Forms of fear
For a child like I was
And for the man that I am
There are just too many…
