A poem of betrayal
Scented candles flickered in the moonlight
Looking for him, he's nowhere in sight
My heart telling me what I don't want to hear
Drowning in a relationship that is unclear

I cradled your heart in the palm of my hand
I put you above all others, you were my man
Your voice echoed like lovely piano notes
Whispers of sweet, romantic quotes

Resting in your arms was my favorite place
Wrapped in your warm and loving embrace
Now I sit, alone, right back at the start
Holding the pieces of my broken heart

How naive I was to fall for your charm
Thinking you would protect me from harm
The only saving I needed was from you
After all the hell that you put me through

It's not that I'm not beautiful, intelligent, or good enough
It's simply that you can't handle a diamond in the rough
