Longing for the unattainable
A Life Never Lived

Her baby never came

All her life she assumed, expected even
Had ideas of how many, possible names
Dreamed of buying baby needs
Holding, cuddling, cooing
Hearing the word mommy being directed at her
Hearing the word mommy being directed at her

Her baby never came

Women have babies every day
Some wanted and loved them from the start
Some learned to love and care for them
Some disposed of them before they even had a chance
Some gave them away with and without remorse
Dumpsters. Some ended up in dumpsters.

Her baby never came

She doesnât understand. It doesnât make sense.
She would love her baby to the end of her own life.
But a woman who doesnât want/need/deserve one
That is who is blessed with one?
If there were a God in such a horror filled world
Then why why why
She asks that question every day. Heart always having an empty space
Never to be filled. A dream dies. An innocent baby dies. Part of her dies.

Her baby never came
