A poem about the crueler side of society today. A poem about not caring anymore.
The boy walks the halls,

Eyes cast down,

Alone and surrounded by those

Who made his smile a

permanent frown

He face is still young

But he has aged past his years

With a pridefully depressed face

And eyes always speckled with tears.

Their whispers are never fair

Neither is the way he is

Forced to tell himself not to care,

After all,

Why should he,

Why should he?

He has nothing but darkness

The idea of love blocked with opacity,

A thick wall of words and hate

Said with pure audacity.

Nothing is worth it,

Nothing worth trying is worth doing

While others laugh and point

He is left fighting and stewing.

It's not worth it to fight,

But how can he go on

In this world of little light?

And also,

Why should he?

One day the light shone on him

Stunned and hopeful, he followed it.

And the fire spread like rumors,

The sea burst upon his life,

And the dark ones couldn't fight

Against the waves caused

By that most grievous light.

But still they called,

Why did he go?

We would have helped.

come back, they tell him,

We miss you, come back.

The light spits at them,

Why should he?

We loved him!

...Why should he?
