Halloween poem about the Devil
HIS DUE

Some gory pit
With bone and skull?
There are
Far worse things yet.

What tears the throat
And drinks the blood?
Some things
More fear should get.

Does full moon bring
Anxious remorse?
Fear not
Much worse awaits.

A mummy's shroud
might fill with fright.
Worse lingers
At the gate.

Not witch nor coven
Not warlock's sign
Deserves fear
As its toll.

Fear not the thing
That tears the flesh
Fear
What steals the soul.
