A prose poem about sadness and regret.
I say goodbye, happy. It was nice to touch base, to say ‘hi,' to see how he was. He’s been sick. Dad is ninety.

Then I’m sad. He won’t be there forever. I remember Mom.

I regret, regret all that I did and what I did not. I wish I could go back, go back and be a better son.

I shudder. I push it all away, and hang up the phone.
