A reminiscence of an event that could have changed everything.
Although it’s one you know,
There’s a secret that I hold,
I'm just too afraid to show
How much I really care,
But you followed me upstairs,
Put your hands up to my face
And kissed me,
Slowly and without haste.

We stood together in that room
For a fleeting moment,
Knowing you'd have to go soon,
Go back to him instead,
So I lay a kiss upon your head,
Turned my back to you and made
My way down,
If only I had stayed.

Had I not left you when
I did, had I gone back,
And kissed you again,
We could have been together,
Perhaps not last forever,
But at least we wouldn't miss,
What was to be,
Our one and only kiss.
