A sequel of sorts to 'Gridlock'
Detour

In the darkest depths of winter
As wind and rain prevail
Snow in flurries promised
All we see is sleet and hail
In the moonlight still reflecting
Crystalline in shards
The tungsten still refracting
In the taillights it jars
But the signs are getting brighter
The stars up in the sky
Their points are getting tighter
’midst the canvas where they lie
Shining in the starkness
For those who want to see
Pining in the darkness
For those who long to be
Lounging in the shelter
The eye within the storm
A time to regroup, counter
The gridlock from before
Providing hearts a detour
If the soul is willing, strong
If the mind is open, lured,
and the body comes along
Breaking through the blackness
The ever numbing cold
A flurry scurries downward
Powdered white flakes fold
Raising on the tarmac
A pristine mirrored white
Brightening the ambience
of home spun fairy lights
Sprung up from the shortened days
A mirage on whitened ground
An oasis in this dark dismay
Some respite can be found
Amidst the boughs of conifers
Pine needle scented cones
Angels look down over us
In the stars… we’re not alone
