The past calls on a whim
Threatening to linger
When the lights have grown dim-
When you least expect it.

The present counts the hours
‘Til its big getaway
Running through the flowers
In the midst of the night.

The future takes chances,
And tightly you hold on.
Through the dawn it dances
While playing hide and seek.

A beam of light shines through
As the three worlds collide.
Confusion’s nothing new;
As tears run down your face.

The damp pillow tells me
You yearn for his strong arms;
Making the place you long to be
With him, in the still of the night.
