A Day by the lake
A Day by the Lake

I sat by the lake,
the leaves fell like flakes,
no wind nor sound,
I saw no one around.

I looked at the sky,
I saw glimmering eyes.
A presence in guise,
could it be a spy.

Goose pimples appeared,
I felt very weird.
Who is it that peered,
are you someone to be feared.

I got up and walked,
I saw a red hawk,
he stood on a stalk.
Why is it you gawk.

I felt I was lost,
it started to frost,
this path I have crossed.
I saw something that glossed.

The light was so bright,
it looked like a knight.
He started to cite,
I fell down with fright.

I heard in my mind,
that he was assigned,
to follow behind.
I felt I was in a spellbind.

He told me not to adhere,
to the days of yesteryear.
And never to domineer,
rather, you should be a gondolier.
