What were you searching for?
When I was young I found a broken bird
wings twisted and mangled you lay.
Just staring longingly into the open sky
as if searching for someone far away.

You had the purest eyes I had ever seen
dark and somber with no hate.
I brought some water to help the pain
but at that point it was to late.

We sat there in the blood and dirt
and and I held you as you cried.
You told me I was what your looking for
Looking back I think you lied.
