A brief snapshot in time, one morning in a hotel room on Andrassy Avenue.
Hazy early morning
cool air bites as I step out of bed
foggy eyes detect
scattered garments across the floor
mini-bar empties of vodka and rum
buried deep within a mountain of bed-linen
I hear the rhythm of your breath

Slide open the balcony doors
and lean over the edge of railings
and my soul is temporarily awakened
by the hum of city traffic
late November breeze
fresh new landscape to inspire
such tired, spiritless eyes
different people wandering different streets,
emerging from a different underground,
speaking a different language
- what a blessing variation can be.
I inhale the fresh new air
deep into my lungs
as if it were the essence of life itself.

Suddenly hands grasp my waist
warm, familiar hands
gentle lips grace my neck
and internally I shiver
turn to your sincere wide eyes
they too, shine with unique expression
You are magnificent. And it is magnificent
to explore this different city, with you.
