A weird poem that came to me after seeing some fossil flowers at a science museum

Stone
Is the flower
Forever frozen
Igneous matter
How did it happen
Greater the question
Should be why
I ponder it well
As I study each detail
Oh the hell
Along came the flame
Wicked this way
Burning everything down
Decimating
All that was around
Except the flower
Leaving it untouched
Then came the heat
Instantly incinerating
All that had any
Remaining chance to be
Finally came
The molten rock
Heading down stream
Towards some distant sea
Creation and destruction
A god unto itself
Forming land masses
Shaping gradient circumstances
Away from the height of creation
Leveling the playing field
For the continued contest
Of what could survive
And what was not meant
Stone
Is the flower
Wild it once was
Careless it dreamed
Beauty did it bleed
Now
It is something else
A frozen resemblance
Of what it once was
Encased
In igneous rock
A perfect specimen
Forever preserved
Nothing again
Could change or alter
Its magnificence
Upon some shelf
It will no doubt sit
A prudent example
Of how things transform
And how they endure
Stone
Is the flower
I found it
But in no way
Does it belong to me…
