A poem for Valentine's Day
Our lives are like vines,

Starting separate, small, fragile
Straining to reach the wall,
And bit by bit growing
Slowly, imperceptibly, day by day,

One day they find each other.
Then they entwine, overlap,
Covering the wall with their lives until
It is impossible to tell
Which vine covers
Which part of the wall.

They are so intertwined, they are one --
Lives filling the space --
The wall becoming something more
Because they are there.

Such are our experiences--
You are part of me;
I am part of you.

This is love.
