thought about titling this emotion in motion
watch how it happens-
all of a sudden people
open themselves up to me-
offer smiles flinging wildly
finally everyone is happy /
if only in the moment passing,
faces set in frozen glaze
thaw back to supple summer's haze
smeared across lengths of days -
like marks left from greasy skin and hair
each fiber distinguishable
in each smile, I remember you
sulking with satisfaction -
self-doubt looming manifests
a plastered grin /
remote connections
feeding the space between
you and we and "happiness
is for anyone and anything at all..."
because / even when it's just an act
a fallacy can be a seed -
a phoenix birth new breath
our moods shift swayed by fickleness -
the villain loves the hero
in that moment he was granted life
both realized their purpose -
should have kept on with searching -
our lives are strands of dreams
spun from this world where
nothing's ever close enough
to touch / it gets hard to remember sharing
any space or time together now -
faster passing side by side
and watch how it happens /
what we've managed to salvage -
practiced maneuvering
prepared we run the cycle
unsettled souls in motion
there's nothing that can't be chosen
our infectious labor of passion
hatches, regenerated from the ashes
