Short poem about possibly losing someone

When spring arrives with the rain softly falling;

The suns’ later bedtime; the birds’ gleeful calling;

When flowers bloom and warmer breezes tousle my hair;

I have to sadly wonder now; will you be there?

I haven’t heard witty banter with a teasing smirk;

Watched a sparkling eyed smile laughing with me at my quirks;

I’ve gone years, missed them so, without a daily connection;

The past many weeks with you has become a welcome infection.

If my caring, my telling you, is too much for you;

Communication is a chore, out of pity it’s what you do;

If the rush, the excitement of hearing from me has left;

While I’ll miss you, more than miss you, maybe your leaving is best.

I hope with all heartbeats, each blink; with every breath I take;

That the ‘you’ you have shown me knows we are not a mistake;

I watch clouds pass; trees bud; puddles filling with melting snow

While wondering, will you be around a while? When will I know?
