from writing prompt exercise: ABC poem
Alone, with my misery, my
Blurred vision slowly
Coming into focus.  Looking
Down, I see they took
Everything.

Fighting down the nausea and
Getting to my feet, my
Hands trembling,
I check my pocket.
Just as I suspected.

Kicking the wall, I
Lament the loss of
My hard-earned
Nickels and dimes.
One day, I would win.

Pain seared through my
Quivering muscles and I
Retched weakly
Sweat beading on my
Temples.

Unsure and
Vulnerable, I
Walked into the sunlight.

Xiphoid process throbbing, I
Yelled for help with
Zero Hope.
