My first free-verse poem. Any tips/ constructive criticism is welcome.

When awakened”

Within the snowy cold

I found your empty hand.

The warmth melting the ice from my fingertips

The snow disappeared for miles around.

My life was a dreary thing,

Too young and full of life.

I had no freedom, so the life was a waste

Or so I thought, until I met you.

I finally was given an excuse

To take advantage of the bore I’d been given.

And turn it into something beautiful:

Such as a thing of young love.

You took me and awakened me,

Your lips as an alarm upon mine.

It took my from my sleeping beauty state

So I kissed you back.

When love awakens the sleeper,

The effects can be astounding.

I was taken from a black and white life

And I grew to be a piercing rose.
