Annotation should be descriptive and evaluative- analyze btween front and home in N korea war in film
a NY times article on Syrian conflict- can be both primary or secondary. Are you talkinga bout syria and the conflict? then it's secondary. If it's newspaper coverage, then it becomes a primary source.

things to consider for descriptive:
Peer editing- anything scholarly is peer edited these days. Publishing- if it's from a university, you can feel better than if it's from random house.

ID audience and genre

Quality- is it scholarly valid?

is the source curcial to familiarizing with the state of the art of your field of inquiry?

"He presents his findings in a scholarly novel." Scholarly is not novel. novel is fiction.
Encyclopedia britannica- it's peer reviewed, wiki isn't. This isn't the best source for Core, still.
