Goodbye

There were so many things worth living for,
But for you, this was just not enough.
Your life was precious, priceless, proud,
I guess just living it was tough.

But I'm proud of you for everything,
For trying to pick yourself up.
To make a better life worth living,
Not half empty but half fill your cup.

I proud of you for waking up,
For getting out of bed.
Trying to face each new day,
With no feelings of dread.

It was the same old routine,
Again and again and again.
Day in day out,
With nothing for you to gain.

But the day soon came,
And we had no control over that.
The day the lights went out,
The day the line went flat.

And for me it did get better,
Two years, four months, a day.
It took a while to figure out,
But now I know why I stayed.

Because I remember you each day,
You're forever in my mind.
So now that you're in heaven,
I pray the lord be kind.
