Alianna can't remember anything about who she is.
The signs around my cage shouted to anyone who cared : “Danger! Look out!” That was my life. Locked up in a cage, on the slope of a volcano, always just out of reach of the steaming lava flows. I was a witch, or at least, that’s what the villagers said. Me, I didn’t think so, but considering I don’t really remember anything about who I am, my defense isn’t that great. So I was relegated to sitting here, day after day, nearly frying my rear end off, just because I couldn’t remember my own name, and my past. Somewhere, I knew this wasn’t right, but what could I do?

I woke up from my doze, uncomfortably wedged between sever of the bar-branches of my cage, to o a strange sound. It was like a sawing, snapping sound. I felt my cage saw, then drop suddenly, but no searing pain from my bottom telling me I had hit lava. Instead I hit solid ground beside the lava flow. A whisper told me to be quiet, a knife sawed through my cage, an arm pulled me out.
“Alianna,” the figure whispered to me, “I’ve finally found you.”
