A poem about death
The heaviest stone
is losing the fight to stay alive,
to breathe that final breath,
knowing curtains of darkness
will soon drape across
eyes that no longer blink,
isolated, immune
to the mercy of love.

After life's bridge
has been burned,
collapsed, and sunk
beneath the undertow,
into the empty abyss,
solemn final rites are
reverently surrendered,
in witness of the disbound.

A lifeless carcass
of once vibrant flesh
will be cast down,
into a dark silent grave,
a macabre world,
where hungry roots search
to devour
the fruit of the dead.
