a walk below Niagara Falls
nothing escapes falling streams—
I cast a leaf in—blink—vanish—
gone into bubbles and froth.

I clamor down wooden stairs,
yellow coat and boots unheard through
thundering impact below.

I pause. moss trails green tendrils—
impossibly long fingers through
inexorable forces.

at hurricane deck I wait,
windblown sprays form rainbow droplets
catching me, setting me free.
