A poem about magic in the woods
What are you gonna say?
What are you gonna do?
I never went in there and neither did you.
Those woods were magic--
that much we knew. Why else would the trees be purple?
Why else would their leaves be blue?

We’ve heard all the stories, more than a few.
We don’t know how but we know they’re true.
You remember the old lady who lived in the shoe?
And the witch with the wart who stirred the brew?
You think you might’ve jumped if she ever said, “Boo!”?

And what about the goblins and the faries and all the ogres there too?
And the little girl visiting her grandma she barely knew?
If I told you I went in there, it wouldn’t be true.
But I would’ve if I could’ve,
and so would've you.
