Ode
Thy role
Not known
Here
Over there
Everywhere
Within all things
Madness does live
Sadness will sing
Ode
Is it you
Is it me
Are we as one
Or as every other
Under this sun
Are we the same
Or quite different
Before you answer
Question yourself
Does the answer
Make any difference
Will it ever
Ode
There’s the mind job
Rooting around
Inside your skull
Behind those eyes
Assuring you
That all of this
Is just some lie
Ode
God only knows
And he won’t say
A damn thing
Crazy is
As crazy does
Many follow
While even more
Get swallowed
Chewed up
And Spit out
Oh the taste
Disgusting
Fewer ever
Really make it
Ode
The game is fixed
The players
Long since established
What we do
And how we do it
Matters least of all
Fates hand
Is both cruel and heavy
You must trust in me
When I say that it’s over
Before it ever began
There is no point
No meaning to be had
There is just this
And then nothing
Ode
I hope this does not
Make you sad
Damn near suicidal
Instead my deepest wish
Is that it makes you mad
Pissed right the hell off
I hope you curse heaven
Takes Gods name in vein
Swear allegiance to all things
Not bound by him or to him
I hope you speak of him
As if he is an archaic form
Of human control
That now is in control
Least of all
Ode…
