My latest poem. My first attempt at a ABAB, CDCD, ect.. format.
The night was set as wicked, dreary -
I was set to wonder, wander, and ponder -
Wander in curious, quandary query -
Ponder lost spirits, of memory fonder -

Vexed in retention it haunts -
Fanning the flames of dissension -
My immortal antagonist taunts -
Wearing the masque of my contention -

I seek to rest, to find your dream -
This road I tread through thorns and briers -
Along this journey the devils team -
Seeking comfort, from the mouths of liars -

Alas, my eyes set to gaze -
Fixed upon dark matters of spite -
Peering intensely through perilous haze -
Swarming in cognitive perils quite trite -

In utter defeat I fall -
Gripped by fear, truth prevails my view -
Contested by three words, my all -
I breathe once more, “I love you” -
