Trick or Treat
Costumes

We dress up in our finest
Play trick and treat all year
In fear they might find us
And blow our cover clear
Clear out the camouflage
We wear from 9 to 5
Blow away the cobwebs, large
The masks in which we thrive
As daily horrors take their toll
Protected in our shroud
Carve ourselves a pumpkins soul
Befitting of the crowd
Awaiting strokes of midnight
Where souls and hearts can turn
And under Halloween’s light
Glisten bright and burn
And shine for a brief respite
A moonlit hallows eve
With silver, balanced, spun right
As players loom and weave
Swaying ‘tween the shadows
That play ‘tween dusk and morn
Mourning as the whistle blows
…and pumpkins fall at dawn
